DEAR PETER : LEEDS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2016

leeds2

Opening with Jim Jarmusch’s Paterson, Leeds International Film Festival  celebrated it’s 30th year.  My film, Dear Peter screened within the festival’s “Nine Moving Stories: Short Documentary Panorama” programme (English Premier Oi Oi!) which included a Q+A with myself and the filmmakers behind short film, Venus. Good times!

Venus, a intimate portrait on Venus Dimilo, a female drag performer. The film is directed by Faye Carr-Wilson and produced by Magenta Sharp.

The programme also included These Cocksucking Tears, a film that explores the life of gay country singer Patrick Haggerty who wrote and recorded as Lavender Country, an American country music band formed in 1972. The film has recently won the Jury Prize at SXSW, so it was great to see it projected in Leeds Town Hall!

DEAR PETER : INVERNESS FILM FESTIVAL 2016

dear_peter_nessfest

DEAR PETER will be screening at Inverness Film Festival 2016 on Friday 11th November at 11am. The film is selected for their Short Doc 2 Programme at Eden Court, Inverness.

FUN FACT: Dear Peter was partially edited at Eden Court’s Digi Room in the evenings after my daily shift as Digital Media Development was done.

After discovering a large collection of handwritten postcards in a secondhand shop, filmmaker Scott Willis begins a journey to track down their owner. The messages on the postcards create a picture of unknown man called Peter.

But with the collection spanning over seventy years, a reunion seems unlikely. Who was Peter? How did his life end? And what happens to us when our time is up?
